Gohan Donabe in Black

Regular price $128

A simple and beautiful pot for both cooking and serving, the Gohan nabe was designed to make perfectly fluffy steamed rice, as well as soups and stews. Sized for 2 go of rice, perfect for 1-3 people. The split lid handle holds a rice paddle for serving and the glossy black glaze features tiny pinholes that add unique texture to every piece.

Pictured with our small rush trivet and brass serving spoon.

Based in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, one of the six ancient kilns of Japan, Marumitsu Poterie was founded in 1950 with the aim to design kitchen and tableware that combines Japanese traditional craft with modern forms, to add joy to the act of cooking and eating.

Marumitsu donabe are safe for heat, including oven and gas flame. Not recommended for use on an electric stove unless using a heat diffuser. As with all natural materials, never shock the dish by moving it quickly from cold to hot, or vice versa. Warm it slowly over low heat to start, and never submerge a hot pot in water. Never heat the pot empty or when the bottom is wet, which can cause it to crack.
